Legal requirements for installing a charger in Denmark (per the Danish Safety Technology Authority)
According to the DS/EN 60364-7-722 standard and the applicable installation regulations (in force since 1 July 2017), the following applies:
- RCD protection is required at all EV charging points, both at sockets and at fixed charging units.
- An RCD type A (30 mA) may be used if the charger has built-in DC fault current detection up to 6 mA. This complies with the applicable standard.
- If the charger does not have DC detection, the installation must instead be fitted with an RCD type B (30 mA), which can handle DC fault currents above 6 mA.
- The installation must be carried out by an authorised electrician, and a verification test of the RCD must be performed before commissioning.
PLEASE NOTE: This charger must be connected by an authorised electrician in accordance with applicable Danish legislation. This ensures a correct, safe installation and compliance with electrical safety regulations.
